Local's Guide to Breckenridge

The Rocky Mountains are magical during the holiday season, and there’s no other place quite like Breckenridge to celebrate. From adventures on the mountain to holiday-themed events and productions, Breckenridge offers plenty of opportunities to get into the spirit of the season. If you’re traveling to Breckenridge for the holidays this year, check out a few of our favorite activities around town.

A Christmas Carol

See the classic A Christmas Carol at the Breckenridge Backstage Theatre between December 5 and 29, 2019. This family-friendly production brings Ebenezer Scrooge to life in this adapted-to-stage version of the Charles Dickens’ story. Shows start at 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday and Saturday and at 6:30 p.m. on Sundays, and it runs about 95 minutes with an intermission.

Purchase your tickets online in advance.

Holiday Pajama Storytime

Grab the kiddos and head to the Holiday Pajama Storytime at the Summit County South Branch Library on December 19 at 6 p.m. Kids are encouraged to get cozy in their pajamas and bring along their favorite blanket or stuffed animal to this storytelling event. Registration is required by either calling 970-453-3544 or signing up at the front desk.

Bhava Yoga’s Holiday Events

Bhava Yoga is the state’s only ski-in, ski-out yoga studio, and this cozy spot is hosting three separate holiday events this year. On December 18, Bhava will be opening its doors for a Holiday Open House with food and drinks, giveaways, and a macrame pop-up shop.

If you’re looking for a way to truly unwind, the Winter Solstice: Tune + Restore workshop on December 22 combines restorative yoga and sound healing. Lastly, the Holiday Gratitude Immersion + Acoustic Flow on December 27 is a two-hour practice to help ring in the new year with intention.

Outdoor Adventures

A trip to Breckenridge isn’t complete without at least a few days on the mountain. Breckenridge Ski Resort offers 187 trails and nearly 3,000 acres of world-class skiing and riding. You can also snowshoe or skin to dinner at TenMile Station or get a thrill on the Gold Runner Coaster all at the resort. Breckenridge also has two Nordic ski centers, trails for fat biking, snowmobile tours, ice skating, and hockey rinks, sledding hills, and more.
