Pet-Friendly Lodging and Activites in Breckenridge!
Since we love dogs and offer pet friendly-lodging, we put together a list of Fall Activities to do with your Dogs in Breckenridge so that you can have a plan of where you can go with your furry friend. Many pet owners are familiar with the dog park at Carter Park in downtown Breckenridge, but if you’ve only visited during the winter, it’s the sledding hill at the south end of High Street. Trail Etiquette
Please expect and respect other trail users. You will encounter other hikers, mountain bikers and possibly horses on your adventures around Summit County. Uphill travelers have the right of way, and always step off the trail if you encounter horses.
Please pick up after your dog, and properly dispose of waste. You should know that most areas require dogs on leashes. If an area is an “off-leash” area, it should be clearly marked. If you become separated from your pet somehow, please check with the Summit County Animal Shelter. Leash Law and Prohibited Areas
The Town of Breckenridge has a leash law and a few areas where dogs are not allowed. Leash Regulations state that “Within Town limits, dogs are required to be leashed. Outside of Town limits dogs may be under voice command, with the exception of the Rec Path, where dogs are required to be leashed at all times.”
There are only a few places where you cannot bring your furry friend. Dogs are prohibited at Cucumber Gulch Preserve, the Breckenridge Golf Course, and the fields at Kingdom Park.

As with any hike in the mountains, carry the ten essentials and make sure you let someone know where you are going and when you’ll return. Select stores will carry dog-specific hiking bags where they can carry their own leash, food, and water.

Washing Your Dog After a Hike
If your furry gets muddy and needs a wash before returning home, then head on over to Animal Lovers Pet Supply, where washing stations are available. If you need emergency vet services, please contact the Breckenridge Animal Clinic for assistance.
Dogs are curious and have been known to get into trouble with porcupine quills or by annoying moose. Wildlife is unpredictable and can be dangerous to you and your pet. Please use caution when traveling in the backcountry and on trails around town. The local moose population has grown in recent years and has been known to wander around the downtown area occasionally.

After a long day on the trail, a well-deserved libation is usually in order. Summit County has nine microbreweries and tap houses to enjoy. Here is a selection of microbreweries in Summit County to bring your friend to.

Shopping with Dogs
A lot of stores in the historic district of downtown Breckenridge will generally welcome well-behaved dogs inside their stores. Please be sure your pet doesn’t annoy other shoppers or damage any merchandise. If you’re unsure if a store will allow your dog, take one step inside and ask if they are allowed.
